Annachie Myles (June 1'st, 1994) is the drummer in Freen in Green, and founding member of the band.
Annachie Myles grew up in the township of Venus Bay Victoria, Australia with a family of 4. She was taught piano and guitar by her dad until around age 12 when she discovered hip-hop music. She attributes her earliest memories of hip-hop coming from stumbling upon Public Enemy record "Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black" at a record shop in Melbourne.
When she was 15, her family moved to Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada in hopes of broadening the horizons of she and her sister. It's there that Annachie met with her friends that would eventually form the band Freen in Green.
At age 13, Annachie started a small punk band with some friends at school. Her hope was that they could eventually get good enough to allow her to drop out of school and become a full-time drummer playing in any Melbourne venues that would allow them in. However, the fledgling band fell on hard times when the lead singer/guitarist and pianist became romantically involved, and lost dedication to the music.
In 2009, Annachie met Sparky Maelstrom on her way home from school, and shortly after they formed the band Freen in Green together.
Annachie's inspirations generally fall into either hip-hop or punk rock genres, both of which are known for relying heavily on the drums. In no particular order, she lists the following artists/bands as her biggest inspirations:
- Public Enemy
- Paul Cook (The Sex Pistols)
- Dave Grohl (Nirvana, The Foo Fighters)
- Del the Funky Homosapien
- Any of the drummers from The Clash
- Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
